Hong Kong is a cosmopolitan city. Most of the people are of Chinese origin. Many of them originally came from China, settled down and had children born in Hong Kong. There are also many who have moved overseas, lived for a number of years and have since returned to Hong Kong.
In addition, as Hong Kong is an international port of trade and financial centre, there is a fairly large number of people who come to Hong Kong from Japan and other parts of Asia, Europe and the Americas to work.
