Hello Boys and Girls,
I write a travel tip about Eger. I lived in this town for 7 years and I learnt there very-very much :)
The town is located in Northern Hungary, the capital of Heves County. It is one of the most important wine region in Hungary. Here you can try many kind of wines, like Cabernet Savignon, Merlot, Medina, Leanyka ("Small Girl"), Muscat Ottonel, Harslevelu ("Lime , Blauburger, Blaufränkisch, Portugieser, Turan. Some of these red wines were made a cuvée that called Bikaver ("Bull Blood"). This is a famous cuvée since 19th century. That's why the gastronomy is very important in Eger.
The famous bulidings are also important in Eger. Here you can find a northest minaret in the world - but since 18th century there are no Ottomans ("Turks") live in this town. The castle was in the Medieval times very important - here fought the Hungarians vs. Ottomans more times for the town. For first time, the Hungarians won the battle meanwhile many regions occupied by the Ottomans by the middle of the 16th century.
After the persecute of Ottomans, in the 18th century was began to build the baroque town center. The Lyceum, the Minorita Church and the Orthodox Church are one of the most important and beautiful buildings in Eger. The second biggest Catholic Church in Hungary, the Cathedral is also can be found here that build in the 19th century.
When you are tired of big journey, you can sink in the water Thermal Bath near the Bishop Garden.
