Miskolc is or more likely was a centrum of the 'industrial' Hungary during the communist era, what fortunately thank God is over, but you can still find a lot of signs remaining visible - especially the ugly block houses.
Hopefully they will rot away quickly and let the great scenery back to it's place.
You should definately go to the highest point of the town, there you have a nice overview about the surroundings - and that's what really matters there, the forests, hills and caves (!) are worth to discover, there are good, visible signs everywhere you go, you can also get maps at the toursit information.
Nature is nice, and if you like to be in the water... well, the baths! Hungary is famous for the great hot water what has healing powers, so get in the bath too!
And if you are in Miskolc already, go and visit Lillafured, because that's a charming little place, suitable for a romantic getaway!
