Not only a great destination for wine lovers but also an ideal place to relax and chill out with your partner. Also very cheap, much cheaper than Budapest! Beautiful baroque little town.

The castle at Eger is amazing. 2000 Hungarian troops successfully repelled an army of over 20,000 turkish during the invasion of the Ottoman Empire, effectively stopping it. Egri Cillagok (The Stars of Eger) is the countries most famous work of fiction, which is about this time period and castle.

Great Red Wine cellars everywhere you turn. There's also a really nice fort you can explore, complete with a wine cellar. Try the hot spiced wine in the winter.
