Right before you get to Hveragerdi from Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland (40 minute drive) you drive down a hill. On that hill, right above the town there is a sightseeing area and on a clear day the view is amazing. You can see over to the glaciers and the Vestman Islands, incredibly beautiful.
5 minutes later you're in Hveragerdi.
For me the most interesting things about Hveragerdi is that right in the middle of the town there is a geothermal area with hot springs (not this is plural as in not one spring but many), also not far from the geothermal area there is a beautiful waterfall and third the golf course.
The golf course has 9 holes but two of them are pretty special. Right by the 1st green there are hot clay springs with bubbling clay and by the 5th mens tee there is a hot water spring that blows regularly. The 9 holes are very well maintained and the in all the course is fun to play.
