Travel Tips from people who've been to Gulmarg
gulmarg is a beautiful place, with its greens and heights, and a nice cablecar ride. but thats pretty much all there is to see. great spot for landscape photographers. but little else for others. the cable car has been extended to snowed areas, so it might be more fun now...

I recommend Hotel Highlands. A historic traditional hotel with a real Germanic Alpine feel and a personal butler who will keep your wood burning stove going all night if needed.

Take a trip on the J&K state cable car which taks you 13500ft up into the Himalayas - the highest cable car run in the world. You almost need oxygen when you get there.
