When you're done with Delhi (and in summertime it will come sooner than you expect at 40 degrees) than flee to the Kulu valley, at the foot of the Himalaya mountains. Temperatures will drop about 10 degrees and evenings/nights can be from warm/cool to cold. The valley is lush and the friendly people of Kulu add a lot of bonus after a bustrip of 16 hours through the mountains. Check out the guest houses higher up in the hills for even more astonishing panoramic views. Some interesting trekkings start from this region.(Manali, etc)

Been here twice and enjoyed it a lot. A suggestion to tourists is that if you are going to Kulu don't go to see the tourist spots, you will find that they are too overcrowded and  not that great. The real beauty of this hill station is in its uninhabited parts. Go as a part of a trekking expedition. For more details check out www.yhai.org , this organization has trekking expeditions every summer and its really worth the time and money
