you probably wouldnt have heard of this tiny town, but it has to be mentioned as there is no marking for jim corbett national park. one of india's oldest and largest, corbett park is 'famous' for its tigers, which we never saw. nevertheless, corbett park is ideal for the weekend getaway- it has great hotels, pleasing climate, easy to reach, family friendly, and you can still see ample wildlife on that obligatory safari (take an elephant one if you can. slower, better) also enjoy fishing.
