Northeastern India Travel Guide

Tura is a district in Meghalaya, rich with lush green forests and mountains which can be any trekker's  dream come true. One gets to see loads of waterfalls, springs and green hills all around. It also boasts of a biosphere reserve and Balpakram national park. One should have a local person around to understand the beautiful rituals of the inhabitants as well as to find out the hidden gems of nature as language could be a barrier. There are constant bus and sumo services from Guwahati to Tura.

When you plan to visit Guwahati (Assam, India), do come with extra 3-4 days cause this city is the gateway to the north-east India & from here you can visit Kaziranga National Park (for one horned rhino), Mayang (village of black magic), Arunachal (land of unspoiled beauty) & so many more. North-eastern India is a bit under-developed and the people might appear a bit aloof but when interacted with, this people are amazingly helpful and cordial.

Travel to Tuensang is tedious with a stop at Mokokchung. Expect over 10 hours by road. Beautiful little town with few facilities, close to the border with Myanmar. No access to ATMs or money changers. Nightlife comes to an end at 6pm.
