Bikaner Travel Guide

Bikaner is a bustling desert city. It has a population of half a million people (small by India's standards). The star attractions are the Junagarh Fort, and the old city surrounded by its high walls. While it's not as set up for tourism as other cities in Rajasthan it has plenty of hotels and an increasingly popular camel-safari scene.

bikaner's most well known sight has to be the junagadh fort. its a leisurely 1 hour stroll through, but a great experience. but the most famous attraction in the region has to be the karni mata temple, the infamous temple of rats. honestly, the rats are a bit overhyped. they are pretty gentle, and wont be scurrying around to attack you (they are very well fed). just move slowly and dont panic.

If you're around Bikaner, don't forget to go to the rat temple. This is not a remarkable temple compared to the others in India but just to see how they feed the 6.000 rats is definitely worth it. By the way, never harm one or you'll have to pay a huge fine.
