  047The best place in the whole wide world, especially since its my home town :) Mostly people travel here to see the backwaters and most people end up renting a house boat. Please please make sure that you book it through some locals, otherwise I can guarantee that the prices would be pumped up. Especially during the season time (August - Jan), the prices gets so pumped that you might end up paying 30000Rs for a house boat which you can easily get for 5000-6000Rs during off season. SO beware. Good tip? (0)  005This is a place where the means o transport to a school, to a market, to the church is all through the medium water. Amazing backwaters. Lovely people. Do not miss the sheer joy of travelling along the coastline in your sel- chauffered boat. Hire a boat for a day, very cheap. Amazing home-made fish curries along the way. Toddy is something you wouldn't want to miss. they say avoid Allepey when it rains, but its an experience of its own kind......Its a heaven of sorts for photographers Good tip? (0)  04535The best place we ever stayed in, in the whole of India was Malayalam Lake Resort in Alleppey. It's right on the waters edge, away from town, cheap and just a lovely place to spend a couple of days chilling. Think we paid about 1000rs for a double...but boy was it worth it. Good tip? (0)
