Hampi Travel Guide

Take a local bus from Hospet (only 14km) to Hampi and and once you're there you can find your guest house by foot. Even if the rickshaw costs only 20R it's still a waiste of money, because it's all very close. A lot of people recommand the other side of the river but after 6PM they charge 150R (instead of 15) to cross the river. (you can do this easily by foot but you have to know where). I think the main side is fine because it's quiet anyway (unlike the rest of india of course). Don't let them tell you Hampi is more expensive, you can easily find a room for 150R. If you don't have too high standards of course... For some temples (like the Hanuman temple) a bycicle comes in handy. Enjoy this magical place!

Bull temple and ruins behind it is a place to go if you are in Karnataka. Taken out straight from Indiana Jones or Tomb Raider movies, those ruing are great to wander around and feel like in ancient India. When you climb on the top of the mountain you get an amazing view over Hampi and all those small temples and shrines scattered around in the mountains. It's a breath taking experience and a place definitely worth visiting. Rest of Hampi is also beautiful and the easiest way to get around is to rent a bike. There are some hills hear and there, but temples are worth this effort.
