Travel Tips from people who've been to Thiruvananthapuram
coconuts are NOT cheap here... whether its the skin colour of tourists or their accent, coconuts cost around 20-25 bucks... and in delhi, atleast a 1000 km away from the nearest seaside coconut grove, they come for a much more pleasant 10. even in beachside kovalam, you are unlikely to find pocket friendly coconuts.

however, do make it a point to try out the crispy jackfruit chips. these are pretty nice and decently priced.

Thiruvanathapuram has the most amazing beaches which are always jostling with people from all nationalities. The kovalam beach is the one i remember visiting.
The backwaters are marvelous and so is the south Indian cuisine. You will find the best of banana chips(made of coconut oil ) in here. The locals understand English pretty well and bargaining goes a long way if you are keen on purchasing stuff.

there´s not that much to do in thiruvananthapuram but like one hour away is a big nature sanctuary which is worth taking a look. you can do some treeking or a boat tour there. and the lions "cage" is definitely worth taking a look. broken wire-mesh fence and two female lions fighting 50 cm next to me :D
you don´t really expect the fence to withstand...but like you see, it did!
