one of modern india's well planned cities.
based on corbusier's chandigarh; gandhinagar, the capital of gujarat is divided into sectors and grids, along the banks of river sabarmati. the architecture is well...hmmm...plain and functional. it has big broad roads with beautiful bougainvilleas growing all over the city. the landscape is dominated by the twin large chimneys of the hydro-electricity plant.
best time of the year to go is winters 'cause the summers can get incredibly hot-47C is the avg temperature.
it has some nice big parks and a really nice deer park tucked in behind an old 16th century fort which is in ruins.
public transportation is auto-rikshaws and buses but i would recommend driving around in a car.
at best a day trip.
