Travel Tips from people who've been to Kuta
Kuta is the premier beach resort of Bali. I stayed in Ubud, further inland in the heart of terraced rice paddies. I foud Ubud more relaxed and decidedly more Balinese; there the locals still outnumbered the visitors. It is also a artist's colony. However, I did go to Kuta to see some Australian friends who were staying at the Kuta Bungaloes. The beach is wonderful and if you want to be in an area of suntan-lotioned international bodies (sounds good, doesn't it?) this is the place to be. During the time that I was there, the beach seemed like an extension of Australia (not a complaint, just an observation, since the Australians are beautiful people...both physically and mentally; did I mention physically?)/ Kuta Bungaloes is a really good place to stay. The rooms are large, quiet, clean and beautiful. They put fresh flowers on your bed. The pool is a very pleasant, non-sandy retreat from the beach; if you are tired of the sun, you can lounge in the shade in the lush gardens. The service at the bungaloes is first-rate. Of course, for those who party endlessly, Kuta is the place to be. There are numerous nightclubs and the restaurants are open late (in Ubud you have to eat before ten p.m. or make do with a fruit plate whipped up by your hotel/resort. It is easy to find taxis to ply you around the island. Good tip? (0) Talking about Kuta in Lombok Island: blue sky, white sands, a warm sea... quite a good experience in paradise Good tip?
