03331Ok, I know I've been posting desperate messages about going to Komodo Island but I promise this will be the last one :) I'll be arriving in Labuan Bajo on the 15th of March (Tuesday) and will try to charter a boat to see the dragons on Wednesday. Anyone's welcome to join me :)

It's located between Sumbawa (Nusa Tenggara Barat Province) and Flores island (Nusa Tenggara Timur Province) in Indonesia.
Komodo National Park was established in 1980 and was declared a World Heritage Site and a Man and Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1986. The park was initially established to conserve the unique Komodo dragon (Varanus komodoensis), first discovered by the scientific world in 1911 by J.K.H. Van Steyn. Since then conservation goals have expanded to protecting its entire biodiversity, both marine and terrestrial.
The only way you can get to and around Komodo National Park is by boat. You can go to this small town called Labuan Bajo in Flores (can catch the flight from Bali twice a week).

0241The Komodo dragons are a big draw to the islands, but actually nothing more than really big and lazy monitors. Best thing to do when you're here is diving! One of the best spots in the world, beautifull untouched coral, 1000's of fish and a little bit of current makes this worth to stay a couple of days in nearby labuanbajo.
