Tehran is a must see city as long as you are OK with Trafic and pollution!! It has strange and lively and crazy nature of any metropolitan city. A combination of  old and new, modern and ancient, one of the most friendly people to foreigners!!! They would take you to their homes and accomodate you to the best of their ability, feed you and take you for sightseeing just because they love foriegners!! Of course the general caution rules always apply. There are wired people everywhere. Used to have one of the best tap waters in the world, don;t know about the last 5 years! Has international resturants but you are gonna have a lot of fun if you are a Kabab lover. I love the traditional sweets, cakes and confections in general. Delicious Turkish Coffes. Lots of sight seeings, huge colorful bazzars, old bulidings, etc. There is much to say, take me and I will show you around for free;) Afterall it is my beloved hometown!

In Arak theres not much to see really. Its a major industrial city, mostly famed for its nuclear plants, that are about to start working. Do NOT take pictures of them whatsoever. That could get you in serious problems! The only sight to see is a hamam, a traditional bath, in the center of the city. As there are not may foreigners visiting the city, there are no English signs marking guesthouses, and as the guesthousekeeper do not speak English at all and you might need someone to help you findig a room. Travelling further... Up to the north you can travel to beautiful Hamadan or get on a bus to Esfahan south of Arak. To the northeast there is Quom, the spiritual capital of Iran. The busstand is some kilometeres southeast of the city. So you might need to take a taxi.

It is the second largest city of Iran in population after the capital. It used to be the nice quick getaway for the people of capital and the suberbians. Nowadays it is almost attached to Tehran and as croweded and populated and probably poluted. I lived my last 12 years in Iran in Karaj. It still has some nice beautiful spots but not much left from the serenity and the cleanness. It has some sightseeings oncluding one of the major dams providing water and power for capital.
