Tipperary is certainly not the most exciting area you can visit in Ireland, but the people here are very friendly, living in small villages and towns, the biggest of it ist Tipperary Town with about 5000 inhabitants.
If you want to go out and make a lot of party, it's certainly not the place to go, but if you like to drink a beer in a pub or chat with some nice people, it's a nice way to get to know the Irish better.
Important things to say:
People from Tipperary are very proud to be from Tipperary. They can be quite competetive, especially if they do any sports - against Limerick.
There are long distances between the small towns and the public transport is not especially well regulated, try to rent a car or let it be.
Don't ask them "How are you?" but "How is it going" as fast as you can, so that it sounds like "How's'tgoin". That's the irish-tipperarian way.
