Travel Tips from people who've been to Counties Limerick & Tipperary
Tipperary is certainly not the most exciting area you can visit in Ireland, but the people here are very friendly, living in small villages and towns, the biggest of it ist Tipperary Town with about 5000 inhabitants.
If you want to go out and make a lot of party, it's certainly not the place to go, but if you like to drink a beer in a pub or chat with some nice people, it's a nice way to get to know the Irish better.

Important things to say:
People from Tipperary are very proud to be from Tipperary. They can be quite competetive, especially if they do any sports - against Limerick.
There are long distances between the small towns and the public transport is not especially well regulated, try to rent a car or let it be.
Don't ask them "How are you?" but "How is it going" as fast as you can, so that it sounds like "How's'tgoin". That's the irish-tipperarian way.

The 'Rock of Cashel' is probably the only tourist attraction within the town itself.  Originally a stone ringfort given tot he church in the tenth century it was the place where the earliest romanesque architecture (cormac's chapel) can be found in Ireland.  The high cross has been damaged but it still a fabulous sight.  There is one hostel in the town that is very basic and self catering, and a hotel on the main street is situated inside a 15th/16th century tower house, if you're looking for something a bit fancier.  Plenty of pubs, that do food and accomodation.  A good place to stay just over night or as a base for traveling to other attractions in the region.

Should you find yourself staying overnight in Tipperary Town and wish to travel earlier. The earliest bus out of the town is at 7.35am. Please note that the regular bus stop heading towards Limerick/Shannon is on Abbey Street, however the 7.30am bus always leaves from Bridge Street just outside the Creamery. It's about a minute walk but people (myself included) have been caught out by this before and had to helplessly watch as the bus pulled away up Bridge Street. Be aware this bus is usually 10 minutes late so factor that in as well. Hopefully you won't miss anything important like a meeting in Limerick or worse, your flight. :)
