If you get tired of the hustle and bustle of Cork City and want a change of pace. A short train journey to the coastal town of Cobh (formerly known as Queenstown) is a must. This charming town with it's Victorian architecture is a must for history buffs, the Titanic stopped here on it's ill-fated voyage. The pier from which people boarded the Titanic still stands like ghost out of time. The town is dotted with Victorian treasures, JFK Park is very picturesque. I'd highly recommend the Commadore Hotel for food, they have a delicious and varied menu. Visit the Cobh Museum for an intriquing rundown on the history of this port town. The highlight of the town has to be the famous St. Colman's Cathedral, perched imperiously above Cobh is well worth a visit. And with Cobh being a mere 25 minute train journey from Cork City there's no excuse not to go and marvel at this historical little gem on Ireland's south coast.
