Travel Tips from people who've been to County Donegal
If you ever stay in Donegal then you must stay at the Ostan Gweedore on the beach in Bunbeg, the beaches r unspoilt, the view of the shipwreck is beautiful and the seafood platter is too die for. . . enjoy x Good tip? (+1) A beautiful small town in County Donegal, on the northern coast of Ireland, inside Sheephaven Bay. The area is very quiet and a little remote--when looking out over the North Atlantic, you feel like you're at the end of the world. The beach is fantastic. It's quite large, especially at low tide. Also consider taking a drive up to Horn Head for a gorgeous view over the Atlantic. When visiting, consider renting a holiday home if you're traveling as group and are staying for a weekend or a week. The pubs and hotels are nice, but like the rest of Ireland, can be expensive. Good tip? (0) Tory Island, the most north-westerly point in Europe, is 9 miles from the mainland and accessed by ferry from Bunbeg and Magheraroarty in County Donegal. The Tory Islanders still have their own, self-appointed, 'King' who greets everyone with a smile and a hand-shake as they leave the ferry. There is a hotel and bar on the island (which should be reserved in advance) and plenty for nature lovers, especially ornithologists. There are a couple of beaches, some historic places of interest and plenty of live music from the locals and guests alike. Take your guitar with you. Good tip? (0) Recent Updates for County Donegal
