Malin Head is the most northerly headland of the mainland of Ireland (it is not in Northern Ireland , though more northerly than any part of it). The most northerly point is actually a headland 2 km northeast of Malin Head, Inishowen Peninsula. We walked there and it was wonderful!
 
We stayed at Sandrock Holiday Hostel and I can recommend it!
