Planning a Trip to Dublin & Surrounds

Baile Atha Cliath, aka. Dublin, is the capital and by far biggest city in Ireland. And certainly the most exciting! As a matter of fact, it my be the best city for nightlife, shopping and having a good time in Europe.
Feel like strolling in shopping streets? Well then, just hit the city center. You will find almost anything in and around henry street. Their are also shopping centers along the street. Another option is Gravton Street, on the south side of the river. Former "exclusive shopping street". On the top of the road, you will find the Stephans Green shopping center, which has a very unique atmosphere and a very unique design. Rather go to a huge shopping center? Then just take the tram that stops outside the Stephans Green Center. It will take you to one of the best shopping centers in Europe. Very nice modern design and atmosphere. Here you will find almost anything. Basically everything you need is in the city center. Thats one of the greatest things about the city. Here you will find all bars and clubs within max. of 15 minutes walk. Ready to dance? well then, theirs plenty of clubs do dance or just chill out. One of the best places is the Redz, just across the street form Temple Bar. Its easy to get in, and theirs always a great party atmosphere. Another option is the Q, which is just next to the Redz. But its way harder to get in, and the bouncers are the most unfriendly i`ve ever come across. Well if you should manage to get in once, you will find that the place is very nice, but the atmosphere is cold and not as laid back as in the Redz. I think everybody just wants to go in, because everyone wants to go in! Still not found what you are looking for? Well then head for the Spirit Club on Abbey Street. Its located on the north side of the river. This club really has a lot to offer: Great laser show, hot electro music, a lounge, and even the possibility to get a massage in the underground floor. If that should not be what you are looking for, well the just ask locals or check out brochures. And don`t worry about the weekday, cause Dublin rocks 7 days a week!!! But I can give you one tip for sundays and mondays. One of the best places to go then is the Copper Face Jacks! Great party, and great atmosphere. Probably the best place to go on sundays and mondays!

Temple bar area has a lot of fun Irish pubs but is definitely very touristy. its such a beautiful old city and the tour of the Guiness factory is well worth 10 euro because the view at the top is the best in the whole city and you get a free pint! A day trip to the countryside is a good idea it was so pretty, we went to a place called Newgrange and walked inside a 5,000 yr old tomb it was awesome. there is so much to do in Dublin, we were there 5 days and that was perfect, be prepared for rain at any time of the year though. it was a fairly pricey city as well. Best (freshest) Guiness Ive ever had too!

Best time to go - between June and the end of August (the warmest and less rainy period).

The opposite of Geneva: doesn't boast but is a beautiful little city. Plenty to do, I recommend the National Gallery and lunch at nearby Stephen's Green. You can always visit a pub, go to a movie or shop. Don't forget to look at the famous central post office where the 1916 Easter Rising took place. For history: see the cathedral (now Anglican) and the pro-cathedral (Catholic, still waiting to get the cathedral back). Also, Dublin is the place where Händel first performed his famous "Messiah" And don't forget the Newman University Chapel, as well as the Book of Kells at Trinity College!

-Always carry an umbrella -Temple bar is overrated, way to touristie! go to solas or whelans instead. - Take the Dart out to Howth. You will not be disappointed. try and go on sunny day. - There are loads things to do in Dublin for free or really cheap. Check out the Photography gallery in meeting house square and grab a sandwich in the spar or londis. for cheap drinks SOLAS. 3.80 for a pint and great atmospher

When you are in Dublin stay in busy areas unless you have somebody with you or know the area. If you need help just ask someone they are usually very helpful There are many ways to get around the city so if you missed your bus, train etc. don't worry you could hop on a Dart, Luas or even get a Taxi. No bother. Watch out for street performers on Grafton St. they are very good usually. Watch your bags on the Luas . Pickpockets usually take that form of transport because it is so cheap.

If you want to go for a city break, Dublin is fine, but 2 days are enough to visit almost everything! The city is not huge. I enjoyed going for a pint in Temple bar (Quays Bar), with Irish music almost everyday!

Guiness brewry, good place to go, look out over the city whilst having a pint of the Balck Stuff, that i dont like but drank it anyways!

Thoroughly recommend: Guinness Factory Tour, Guide Friday open top double decker bus tour, Shopping district, Trinity College, pubs, plus so much more. Just go! But beware, it can get very expensive!
