Israel

Dramatic and diverse - a true land of extremes - Israel is a country with an ancient world feel alongside a backdrop of new world modernization and  modernism, ultra-religious and secular values as well as out of this world natural attractions and unique architecture. Head to the Dome of Rock and the Temple Mount in Jerusalem to see one of the holiest Muslim sites - a temple built in 691 AD on the site of the fabled Temple of Solomon. Journey to the Hassidic quarters of Kea Shearim, or wander through the romantic Old Jaffa with its minarets and Crusader Ruins. Go to the Sea of Galilee, considered the birthplace of Christianity or alternatively turn towards the desert that surrounds the Dead Sea – where the abandoned Nabatean cities of Avdat and Shivta can be found. Spend some time hiking down Wadi Kelt, and get views of extraordinary canyons, or go on a llama trek in the Ramon Crater. To top it all off, snorkel or scuba dive in the Dead Sea itself, where some of the most amazing coral reefs and wildlife await. The regions off of Coral Island are legendary. Sense and see for yourself the places spoken of in stories and legends of the ancient past while soaking in directly the beautiful beaches and fascinatingly complex culture.

Jerusalem, Israel
From the gates, to the Dome of the Rock, to the vendors selling freakishly large oranges and falafels in the narrow alleyways, it is an amazing place. It actually feels like you are closer to God when you are there,..

Jerusalem, Israel
4000 year old walls with marks left over from the stone masons, ancient tunnels, backdrop for a lot of Sunday school stories. Ground Zero for three religions that really don't particularly work and play well together...

If you want to go somewhere and just relax for a few weeks, the best place in the world is Tel Aviv. It has the nicest coastline you have ever seen and the softest sand you have ever touched. The palm trees grow like..

Special place, full of incredible atmosphere. Don't think too much after sightseeing, just try to go back to times of Jesus.

Did you ever wake up in the morning and ask yourself, "Hey, do I want to go see some ruins of a former Roman fortress?" Well, look no further! You will be immersed in history, the dust of the ages and sandals tramping..

The best and cheapest way to get from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem or vice versa, is with the multiple person taxis that run between the two cities. It is convenient since you just pile in and wait for the taxi to fill up to the point where the driver feels he has enough passengers and off you go. Just DO NOT expect to carry a huge backback or any suitcases with you. This is a commuter taxi, not a luggage transportation service!

It was 1995 last time I was in Tel-Aviv but I don't suppose its changed a whole lot. The caital and business centre of Israel, but you don't visit the country for that, get out of Tel-Aviv and to the likes of Jerusalem, the Dead Sea, the Negev and visit some biblical historical places

An amazing place - you can feel the history. Try not to be alarmed by the astounding number of teenagers with automatic rifles slung on their backs. The Dome of the Rock is a highlight - but it is now closed to non muslims.
