Campania Region What to Expect

It's very expensive in summer and very busy, especially in August when all Italians are on holiday, in particular from 20 August onwards. Book accommodation well in advance. Sorrento is kind of boring itself - lots of families and kids. Not much nightlife to talk of, if you're single or looking for fun. Fine for couples. Well worth going to Capri from here, but also book accommodation ahead if you want to stay.

If you got a little knowledge about the whole Pompeian history, you can just get lost in the city and discover it yourself. Very much worth it, with or without guide.

The drive from Napoli is breathtaking take your time getting to Sorrento is really nice at dusk

Extremely fascinating. The preservation of the ruins, the art and even some human bodies is incredible. Beautiful, educational place to go with the family. Beware of "tour guides" outside the ticket window. POMPEII HAS NO OFFICAL TOUR GUIDES. If you choose to go with one of these "guides", just know that they are not official. Wear comfortable shoes and expect to do a lot of walking on uneven surfaces and sometimes jagged rocks. Dress for comfort.

Very nice town on Ischia island. It's placed on the right side of the island, so that you are able to see excellent sunsets. And if you are lucky, you could event see the famous green ray while the sun is falling into the see...

Don't go. . . There is nothing to do, it is full of trash and everybody is a criminal. DO NOT GO
