If you're around north Italy, either Friuli or Veneto region, San Daniele is the place to stop!  You can search out the local tourist spots, but the most obvious places to stop are the ones that catch your eye driving down the road.  The vine is great and of course you have to have some Prosciutto.  Having a schedule is great, but playing it by ear also has its advantages!

If you want true prosciutto from the experts, visit this place.  Served with crusty bread, mushrooms, a white wine, and not much else, transport yourself to gastronomic heaven.
