Travel Tips from people who've been to Pomezia
Off the beaten path, Pompeii is a must for any geo-fans! The ruins of both Pompeii and Herculaneum are immaculately preserved, and a good viewing of all it has to offer takes a good part of the entire day... get there early to make the most of it! There are plenty of open water fountains aroun to refresh yourself, and a little pizzeria just outside the museum that had the best slice of parmesean and olio I've ever had!
The cathedral in the town square is another stop, with its picturesque backdrop of the volcano. The villiage comes alive in the evening, all its citizens gathering in the great square for socializing over some drinks, dancing to the local musicians, and people watching.
Up Mount Vesuvius, in the nearby Terzignio, there is a restaurant that has the best wine the local viniards have to offer. Hot? Thake a dip in the little bistro's indoor swimming pool overlooking the valley. Absolutely breathtaking!
Although not a popular tourist spot, it is a place to which I will return again and again! Good tip? (0) Pomezia is placed close to the mediterranean sea (Lazio region). You can get there with the motorway called "Pontina" that goes from south east Rome to southern Lazio. Be careful, it's a very dangerous road, with several letal accidents a year. Another way to get there is the road along the beach, that runs from north west to south east. From both directions you should turn towards the inner land when you reach Torvajanica, a beach summer village. Good tip? (0) |
