Travel Tips from people who've been to Bergamo
Bergamo is a nice town. For what concernes nighlife, there are a lot of good pubs often full of people. I advice the Keller Pub (in Curno, it's pretty famous), a rock 'n roll/heavy metal pub full of good beers and live music, and the Circolino Basso (not far from the town center, in a place called "Malpensata") where the atmosphere is very funny and everything is quite cheap. A lot of discos are round Bergamo, but the only discopub in the city centre is the Velvet (just near "Porta Nuova", in the real centre of the city): in this pub there's people from every country of the world, and every tuesday there's the university party full of house and dance music. There's just an hostel in Bergamo, the "Youth hostel". It's near the stadium and it's clean, modern and well-placed.

What a superbly beautiful region of Italy... check out its many lakes ... not just Lake Como or Garda... but also the one adjoining Lovere... best reached from Milano... a place to think and relax...

Staying at the Youth Hostel, just outside of the ancient city of Bergamo, you have a great spot to explore the center. There is a direction bus connection between the hostel (ostello) and the ancient city center. The Youth Hostel also offers a nice solarium, which you should visit at least once during your stay. Let the Italian sun give you a nice tan while you enjoy from the view on Bergamo, and hear the bell towers all around you.
