Travel Tips from people who've been to Brindisi
Hey there, now! If you had any place to go in Italy, it wouldn't be Brindisi.  However, to get to where you want to go, you may need to port here.  I took a nice and very long ferry from Greece to Italy and we docked in Brindisi.  There was a nice little restaraunt near the port when you first disembark.  But other than that, I woudn't stay long.

Brindisi is a tourist trap for people taking boats to Greece, so if you go to a restaurant there (and there are good ones) go off the beaten path... also if you can pull off pretending not to speak english, when they give you the menu, ask if they have one in Italian. More than one place I went to had prices that were less than half those on the english menu.

This is one of the 3 Itallian ports where you catch the ferry to Greece (the others are Bari and Venice.) If you have a Eurail pass, it is e20 in peak season, free other times. Technically you have to sleep on the deck but we slept under the stairs inside, and actually one of the better sleeps we ever had.
