it is a funny litle town. i sailed in to viesete couple of yeares ago. from the sea it look like somwhere in north africa. it has a lighthouse in front of the port and it looks like a mosk. al houses are with flat roofs, painted in white, with small windows. at least odd......
when u pass the first row of bulding next to the sea the town reveals itself: the flair of south of italy. it is loud, friendly, in a strange kind of speed.
we sailed in around 3pm. the streets in the center where not to crowded. most of the shops had closed. but after 8pm, when the sun goes down, life pores into the street. kids stay up until after midnight playing socker on the streets, shops r open until who knows when, older folks sit in front of their doors long long after dark.
with one word, it has a certain something.
it is a town, so it has all needed - hotels, hostels (aldo i would not recomend a hostel in the south of italy), shops, private acomodation.
if u wanna see a part of the southern culture and way of living this is the spot. if u want to spend time on the beach and swim, this is not the place cause the sea there is gently said not nice. if u wanna swim go on the other side of italy.
if u wanna enjoy a diferent and nice culture stay here.
