Check out this Olbia travel guide for more ideas on what to see and do, as it can be worth a stopover.
Yes, for those exploring its charms for the first time, there is the pleasure of discovering it in all its colours, while for those who had always known it simply as a port or airport to pass through, the chance to re-discover it all again, no, to live it. Sea and beachesTurquoise, emerald, azure and blue, these are the colours of the waters that lap against our coast; fine white sands, a wide range of marine flora and fauna, the intoxicating scents of the Mediterranean vegetation, all of the above help to make our land a paradise.
Sardinia is not a good place for wandering by foot. There is a lot of interesting places (beaches, nuraghi, spots with nice views), but NO WAY to get to most of them by foot. You have to rent a car. If you want to see nuraghi, you have to buy specialistic map. Most of ordinary maps are not exact enough. For example, Cabu Abbas, on the map, which I got from tourist info, is in the middle of Olbia's industrial zone :) People from Olbia go to the beach to Pittulongu. It is very hard to get into last bus from Pittulongu to Olbia - it is full of people coming back to town. You had better go earlier one, if you dont want to spend money for the taxi, or admire romantic sunset on a speedlane ;)
