Trentino-Alto Adige Region Dos and Don'ts

Head there during the winter for best scenery, fantastic all year round though. Walk the lake from the castle in riva east along the north coast of the lake. Head into the mountains north for a 3hr drive o innsbruck and terrific landscapes. Look for local flavoured grappa and the mead-like wine vino santo, there gorgeous!

The skiing here is not that brilliant... and neither is the nightlife (believe me, I worked in a club here for a season...). There is not much young people around, and if you dont ocme by car you are really really Fu***d !!! Invest a bit more and go just some Km further up to Canazei which is much better! But hey, people are different, so you might like it in Moena... who knows. Be aware of "sticky" locals though... even though its cool to use them for certain advantages (such as scooter-rides in the snow, free drinks in bars etc etc).

Bolzano or how we Germans say Bozen is maybe the most boring place I have ever been. And trust me I have been to many boring places. I sleept in a bed and breakfast kind a place at some grannies house with a German Watchdog in front of my door who didn't trust me at all! Breakfast was great only eggs, bread, chees and sausage was missing. I was lucky I drove on to Firenze or so this morning and had a Espresso at the Autogrill...

on the same dates as the Venice Carnival is occuring, around February, in Campitello they have a carnival too with traditional costumes and masks , where the locals march through the town, all dressed up, and put on a little show in the town centre. highly recommended

There is the market on Thursday mornings.. really nice to see a real North Italian market...
