Travel Tips from people who've been to Montepulciano
Once you get to this Tuscan town, ditch your bus or car below the city entrance because cars are not allowed in the town (only locals and delivery vehicles). Wear comfortable shoes since the streets in Montepulciano are at some crazy grades!  Try as much local wine as you can at the many Cantinas.  Montepulciano di Rosso is a medium-bodied red, and Vino Noble di Montepulciano is their boldest red for which the town's region of Tuscany is famous.

A town built on a hill top and surrounded by a wall and lovely Italian houses all squashed together. Most of the supermarkets are at the bottom of the hill. The red wine and the atmosphere though is stunning. This is one place I would like to go back and stay for a year.

Steep streets, but well worth the effort..... just have your nice flats with you!!  Best time to travel..... anytime!!! Check out the mist and sunrises if you come in April..... the burnt amber fields after the end of July..... and the food and wine anytime of year!!!
