Outside of Perugia, you'll find Corciano, a pleasant medieval hill town with cobbled roads, Gothic churches, and a castle. Here you'll see gorgeous vistas of the Umbrian countryside. Travel with your umbrella, even in the summertime-- there is often a short violent thunderstorm in the late afternoon, but it rarely lasts very long. If you're staying at the Perugino Hotel, you'll want to have a car; it's a very nice hotel on a main highway, but it can be difficult to get around on foot or by bus.
