Courmayeur is a small town on the Italian side of the Alps, near Mont Blanc. It is a good place for beginners to learn to ski, because it's small and doesn't get crowded during the skiing season, and there are a wide variety of slope difficulties. Outside of the skiing season, the views from the mountains are stunning, and there are plenty of places for hillwalkers to climb.
