Jamaica What to Expect

if you're near negril you HAVE to visit ricks cafe to go cliffjumping!! theres a smaller jump and then a huuuge (30ft?) jump for the daredevils. i chickened out of the huge one and regretted it! its good fun, theres a stuntman type person who jumps off an even higher jump, and the local kids will show off for tips.

Stay on the resorts. Once you leave the resorts protection you are constently hounded for "money for the school children..."

Don't miss the climb up Dunn's River Falls. Wear some beach shoes (they also rent them there). The park has the bothersome vendors that Jamaica is known for. Take a waterproof camera. Nice way to spend a few hours. I would not recommend young children if you are going to hike the falls.

Anyone going to 'Ochi' in local parlance must go to Dunns River Falls to climb as well as go to the craft market. If you start the climb on the falls you have to finish - no going back. Wear good waterproof shoes with plenty of grip, stones are hard on the feet. All prices in the market are negotiable. Don't barter if you don't want the item, don't be pressurised into buying what you don't want. Americans always get charged higher because thy're generally not good at bartering. Careful if you have children of vendors giving things to the kids that you then end up having to pay for. All bartering is good natured, just be wise.

if ur planning a trip to jamaica, i recommend Negril over Montego Bay. Negril has blue blue water, and white white sand. MoBay has golden sand and sometimes blue water. we stayed in MoBay, but went to Negril for the day, and wish we had booked our resort in Negril instead ... way nicer!

Negril is on the western coast of Jamaica and is home to several resorts, including on by Sandals, which I have visited. The beaches are amazing!

Kingston is a poor but freindly city. If you love golf you must go and play White Which a little pricey but worth it for the service and views.

old kingston is much more interesting . . . there is a nice art gallery . . . just watch your back for sharp shooters new kingston just has over priced shops

try to smoke some weed!

Its a very fun place to visit if your adventurous. beware of pickpockets and scams. dont go alone. bring bottled water
