Chūbu Region People & Culture

The people of Osaka speak Kansai-ben, or Kansai dialect of Japanese. While you are there, don't hesitate to pick up a few phrases!

gifu is my home town.there is a lot of mountains so north of gifu usually in winter many people come to ski:) there is a lot of rice field ,too.

Awesome place not too big not too small (for those Kiwi's its kinda got the feeling of Hamilton but bigger) People are SOOO friendly,gotta check out the old Ninja Castle and Kenroku-en garden.

Beautiful city about 3 hours by train from Yokosuka. Hard to change money though, no atms work with our cards, but the hotels will exchange dollars for yen. Lots of great places to eat and shrines and temples to see, and the Black Ship Festival every year is a treat. The people are friendly, and as elsewhere in Japan, if you get lost, they will help yuo find your way.

The Contemporary Art museum is pretty cool... there is a pool with a glass floor and people can walk underneath, so they seem to be walking and chatting underwater!

I also recommend to take the night bus tour (with or without a guide): at each bus stop there is a bus to the next one every 15 minutes, so in one evening you can see all the most characteristic places of the town, in a particular atmosphere,

Rent a bike to get around. Its so easy to get from place to place with a bike. There are a couple of places around the train station that rent bikes, just look out for them.

Nice area to go for hot springs. The main souvenir for this area is various gold products.

While here get off the beaten path get out your hiking shoes and look up to see a white statue on the mountainside. Now start climbing towards it. you won't need climbing gear it's not too steep but the view is spectacular from up there.

Yaizu is a major shipping port with fishing vessels coming in full of tuna and deep sea fare. Visit the local restaurants near the main port for fresh seafood.

Definitely do the hike to Gifu Castle instead of taking the easy way up. It's worth the hour and a half hike. Beware of birds that are used to getting fed at the top.

Aerodrom na otoku napravljenom od recikliranog otpada,hotel Raddison u kojem sam odsjeo je bio nevjerovatan.Soba na 67 katu,a restoran na 74-om katu(iznad oblaka).Rucak sa albatrosima. Ljudi koji ti se klanjaju na svakom koraku,znatizeljni pogledi na ulici, i veseli smijeh nevjerice kada vide covjeka koji je visi od 2 metra,to je Japan. Sake uopce nije tako jak,a sushi je puno ukusniji nego u Europi.U crvenu cetvrt ne idite sami,a u centru grada nemoj slucaj ispustiti papiric na ulicu jer je jako skupo.Kovanica od jedne kune je ista kao i ona od 100 jena tako da na automatima mozete piti sokove i pusiti cigarete za jednu kunu,umjesto 100 jena = 1.5 dolara.Sve je ostalo jako skupo,pa barem se tu da nesto ustediti

rauf zur Burg am Berg, am besten den direkten Weg in der Mitte nehmen! und wer sichs leisten kann, übernachtet am besten im Gifu Miyako Hotel!!

Get a work visa for Korea! I have it memorized as we did the trip 5 times! Go to Namba station and walk 6 blocks to the Korean embassy. Have noodles while you wait! E-2 visas are crazy. Check your school, grades, DNA, etc.

This is a really fun town to get lost in and just wander the streets. Keep in mind that 4 is the Japanese version of 13 and a lot of hotels don't have a room 4. (so if you are booking for a group rooms 1-5 are only 4 rooms, often.)

Eat a lot of Okonomiyaki and Takoyaki!!! Osaka is known for it!
