Travel Tips from people who've been to Takayama
I used to live here. If you go there make sure you go during the festival seasons. Small beautiful town with lots of Festival action. The best are the hand held firework festivals. All other major cities do modern day fireworks but Takayama does special hand held ones, which look awesome! Good tip? (0) This is a really fun town to get lost in and just wander the streets. Keep in mind that 4 is the Japanese version of 13 and a lot of hotels don't have a room 4. (so if you are booking for a group rooms 1-5 are only 4 rooms, often.) Good tip? (0) Try the Beef Satay. The skewered meat, freshly roasted on the traditional stove, will melt in your mouth.A bit expensive at 400 to 500 Yen, but it is unforgettable. Good tip? (0) Recent Updates for Takayama
