If you like history and nature, you will love this city. Toyohashi has two post stations of Tokaido Highway #33 Futagawa and #34 Yoshida. Former Yoshida area is now a central area of Toyohashi City. Toyohashi has a major port which is used for automobile export. In central area there are some nice classical buildings such as Orthodox Church, Cultural Hall. Toyohashi Park is formerlly Yoshida Castle and during pre-WWII there was an infantry training area. Futagawa area has a number of tourist attractions such as Toyohashi Zoo and Botanical Garden, better known as Non Hoi Park, Futagawa Honjin Museum, and Iwaya Ryokuchi Park with Kannon statue on top of the hill. Toyohashi is also blessed with nature such as Mt. Ishimaki and Imo Bog. In coastal area bordering with Tahara there is a tidalflat called Shiokawa Higata, which is well known for birdwatchers worldwide. Also pacific coast area lies Omotehama beach where loggerhead turtles visit for laying eggs.
