Sapporro might be known for its beer, but the true gem of this city is the snow festival, If you enjoy viewing ice or snow scultures. At night candels are lit along the roads and paths. All in all beautiful event and great sea food of course ^_^

Go to Sapporo around the first of the year to see the Yuki-matsuri (Snow Festival). The snow sculptures are awesome! Don't forget to pack warm as it can be quite cold. Last time I was there I had to use chemical handwarmers to keep my camera from freezing.
