This is the area just before the great and long bridge to the man-made island of Kansai International Airport.  Just before (or after) this trek, there is a ferris wheel similar to the one at Navy Pier in Chicago.  Ironically, they are sister cities.  
Be prepared to do MUCH walking at this HUGE airport
