Jordan Dos and Don'ts

It is important to dress appropriately when in Jordan, especially in more rural areas like Petra. It is extremely hot but you should always keep your shoulders and knees covered.

Women Travelers: Amman is a good safe place to travel for women, you will not be hassled by locals, apart from maybe the occassional comment. However nothing like North Africa for example.

Jordanian people are so friendly and welcoming. We spent hours walking around seeing the ancient ruins. We left here and moved on to Petra.

Attention should be paid when addressing an Arab.
An Arab is called "sa y ed" (Mr) followed by his given and family names and when on familiar terms by the first of his given names only. When calling an Arab, it is polite to prefix his name with "ya" ....
"ya Mohammad"
