Jordanian people are so friendly and welcoming. We spent hours walking around seeing the ancient ruins. We left here and moved on to Petra.

ITS AMAZING!!!!! Make sure you see the Temple of Artimus. A tour guide really helps get you to the places you should see, but some people in the ruins will begin to give you a tour expecting money at the end. Many times these "tour guides" are children, and the tours are illegal because they aren't certified tour guides and the tourist police will kick them out.

The landscape is extraordinary! Make sure to hike in Dana reserved region. People are very friendly. Wear modest and remember ... in Rome do as Romans do.

Amman, Amman Region, Jordan
Amman is the capital of Jordan, it is one of the regions most liberal and westernized cities and most people arriving to Jordan by air will start their trip there, but in all honesty Amman offers few sights for the tourist. On the Citadell Hill in the city centre there are Roman and Byzantine ruins as well as remains from buildings dating ever further back in history. The temple of Hercules dating back to the Roman era in Jordan is the main sight here. Close to the Citadell there is a Roman amphitheatre. It is the largest in Jordan, but the ones in Petra and Jerash have a much more exiting aura. Amman also has a number of mosques, some of them huge, but all of them fairly recently built. The biggest is the King Abdullah I Mosque finalized as late as 1989. In general, I would recommend travellers to spend only half a day or so in Amman , rent a car and then see the sight in the rest of Jordan .

Jordan Religion

Jordanians have the right to practice the religion of their choice.  Although over 90% of its people are Sunni Muslims, there is a significant minority who are Christians who adhere to the Protestant, Roman Catholic, Greek Orthodox and Coptic Orthodox faiths. There are also some Shites and Druze in the country.

Jordan Language

Arabic is the official language, but English is understood and spoken by the more economically well-off people.

Be sure to try the scuba diving in the amazing Red Sea when in Aqaba. There are many nice marine areas available for diving; over 40 sites along the coastline, 37 of which are in the Aqaba Marine Park. This was my first dive and I was treated like gold. Many companies available on the main drag.

Wadi Musa, Jordan
Beware! The price for entering the area of Petra, is outrageous! 90 US$ or more pr. person.

A complete rip off.

But with that said, it's still a great place to go. And it's not too crowded around the main palace. If your in shape, why not go on a long hike to the hills around Petra?

They offer a fantastic view of the countryside.

If you visit the Dead Sea, bring water shoes with as the beach is quite rocky. Your feet will thank you!

Jordan is a predominantly Muslim country so conservative dress is a must. For the city days, I opted for jeans, comfortable shoes, and long-sleeve shirts. Once we were in places like Petra and Wadi Rum, I opted for workout clothing and athletic shoes.

Amman is a surprisingly hilly city! Expect to climb some serious staircases to get between places. My Cole Haan ballet flats did the job. Style and comfort!

If you are super hungry at a meal, opt for the mezze (salad, bread, and assorted dips) course as well as an entree. If you’re looking for lighter fare, you can easily make a meal out of the mezze!

If you are looking for a change in meals, check out the "China" restaurant in Aqaba for delicious Chinese food. It is a little hard to find but use the post office as a reference and then look for a large blue awning across the street called "Aqaba Gallery". Immediately to the left of it is a small red awning with the China restaurant logo. Take the staircase up a few flights to the restaurant. Great meat and vegetarian options and full bar.
