Beware! The price for entering the area of Petra, is outrageous! 90 US$ or more pr. person.

A complete rip off.

But with that said, it's still a great place to go. And it's not too crowded around the main palace. If your in shape, why not go on a long hike to the hills around Petra?

They offer a fantastic view of the countryside.

Food in Wadi Musa
Wadi Musa, Jordan
You will almost certainly be in Wadi Miusa to visit Petra. The town has many hotels and you can often get a very good deal for lunch as the hotels gear themselves to take advantage of the visiting tourist trade. The visiors centre has good facilities and clean toilets. If you take a horse to Petra, you still have to walk 1km. Make sure you haggle and nevere pay more than $5.

If you are looking to take the famous photo of the glimpse of the Treasury through the gorge, do it later in the afternoon when the sun is low and the rock takes on its pinky hues. If you take the photos at midday, the rock colour will be washed out by the sun into a bright yellow and your camera won't handle the contrast.

Fantastic archeological site. If you got time, you should stay at least 3 days and visit the less frequented sites like Little Petra or the old trail to the city.

It is important to dress appropriately when in Jordan, especially in more rural areas like Petra. It is extremely hot but you should always keep your shoulders and knees covered.

One of the molst beautiful site I've ever seen. Don't hesitate to go of track and climb. You could easily spend several days in the site, and come back as new items are found regularly.
