Northern Kazakhstan Travel Guide

when you come in wintertime, make sure to have extra clothes with you, it goes down to minus 55C easily, same as plus 50C in summer time ... not many trees break the wind there, so if you want to buy something cool and useful, get a real Kazakh hat, it´s called a Malakhay, ask for it, you can get it in the city center of Astana or Almaty ... this way you are safe of either wind or heat, plus you can only get this rocker in Kazakhstan, nowhere else ... at home you rock, for sure!  ;-)

It's a small Kazakh - Russian town very close to the border of Russia. It's about 400 kms away from capital Astana. There are train connections, which are quite slow (like 8 hours). However, it might give you the opportunity to watch the view on the way.

Astana is the heart of Central Azian country Kazakhstan. It's not so big as other capital cities but it is really beautiful to watch. It stays on the river Ishim. There are lots of modern and fascinating buildings in there.
