Kenya Climate

As Kenya straddles the equator, it has a tropical, hot and humid climate in most parts of the country.   In the north and northeast near the borders with Sudan, ethiopia and Somalia, the climate is arid and hot.   The temperature varies from region to region and is also affected by elevation of the terrain.   The Indian coast has an average maximum temperature of about 30 degrees celsius, and the average minimum never falls below 22 degrees.   Nairobi, which is in the central highlands, has an average maximum of about 25 degrees and the average minimum can fall to about 13.5 degrees.   The northern plans has an average maximum of about 35 degrees.   In all regions, the evenings and nights are cooler.

The hottest season is from January to March, and the coolest months are July and August.   Rains tend to fall from April to June and from October to December.   When it does not rain, the country has plenty of sunshine.
