Actually before I got there I kind of had this idea that I might not like this place that much. From what I read Vang Viang is a place that you either love or hate... And as soon as I got of the bus, I did like that little backpackers' town even if I am not a lover of "happy" pizzas or magic mushrooms:)) I do like "Friends", but it was a bit too much that in every single cafeteria they were showing these series... The karst hills, river, scenic surroundings... that was what impressed me... I stayed further away from the "island", that is away from the party zone... rented a bike to go to the blue lagoon and took a walk to the nearby caves.. amazing... the major attraction of Vang Viang is tubing... painted drunk bodies going down the river on a tube:) There is an ecofarm close by.. loved the food of ecofarm's cafeteria in Vang Viang, tried some local laaps with lao beer there in one of very few places that serve traditional lao food (well at least as close to traditional lao food as you can get in Vang Viang). Vang Viang can be suitable for party lovers as well as for people looking for some quiet scenic places.... You can get everything in there:)) met some very nice people there as well:) so my memories from Vang Viang are only the best:))
