Travel Tips for Transportation in LatviaVentspils, Kurzeme (Courland) Region, Latvia Ventspils is an extra-ordinary town in Latvia - very neat and well-kept at the coast of Baltic Sea, situated 290 km from Riga at the NW corner of Latvia. It's perfect place for those who enjoy outdoor and sport activities. The population is about 44,000 and everything can be found in a walking distance. Good tip? (0) Cesis, Vidzeme (Northern Latvia), Latvia Cesis is a real Latvian country town. It can be reached by train from Riga. It's a good starting place to go donw the rive by boat. It takes a full day to go from Cesis to Sigulda by Canoe or Kayak, but it is an unforgettable experience. Good tip? (0) Sigulda, Vidzeme (Northern Latvia), Latvia Take a train from Riga to Sigulda. In the immediate vicinity of the satation there's a bobsleigh track. For a few lats you can get down with a softbob. If Bobsleighers are training, for approx 25 lats, they will take you down in a real bobsleigh... be prepared to feel the G's Good tip? (0) Ventspils, Kurzeme (Courland) Region, Latvia Very silent city. Not much to do and visit. But if u need great beach - that is a place in summer. Beautifull, big, clean, with nice infrastructure, but see is rather cold. Place is to far for using as a travel base (I've ufortunatelly did it). I can reccomend hostel/guest house: Enturi 13 (or Enkuri 13). Good tip? (0) Jurmala, Vidzeme (Northern Latvia), Latvia Beach resort next to Riga. Good to go there in sumer day insted of sitting in big city. There is cheep, slow train from Riga. Better to stay in Riga (better nightlife) and just visit that place for few hours a day. There is museum of cars - nothing special. Don't forget your swiming suits :) Good tip? (0) Bradt Travel Guides |
