Travel Tips from people who've been to Vaduz
On the way back to Austria from Switzerland, I decided to visit the very small country of Liechtenstein. It's a like a ghost country but I did manage to find an area in Vaduz to eat and even saw a couple of human beings!  I recall driving into a parking lot and my car was the only one there!  I even bought a red jacket at this store with a real life Liechtensteinian!!! She was quite friendly and obliging to allow a picture with me. Yes, she was born and raised in Liechtenstein, population of 33,000. In fact, to become a citizen of this country, I think the leader of the country has to actually approve you or something like that.

I spent all of 3 hours in this country and I think I pretty saw all of it!

For me, Vaduz held no charm. I was disappointed when I arrived there. I somewhat expected the town to be more old fashioned with but the majority of the town seems to be modern whit little to see. There is a small shopping Centre and the goods are Tax free so good value. There is the customary Irish bar, a small camp site which was pleasant enough. Some nice walks around the town and there a couple of castles, one of them being the royal residence of the Duke. Not a place for holidays but if your looking for somewhere to store all your millions then go there.

Lichenstein is really small, about 1/6 the size of Singapore. Get an "entry" stamp at the post office, if you do not mind the cost. It was $1.50 euro or swiss franc. I can't really remember. If you are thinking about visiting Vaduz palace, well, you will be disappointed. You can only get to as far as the gate. The Prince stays there, so it's not open to the public. But the hike up to the palace is not too bad.
