Lithuania is the largest and most southerly Baltic state. More interestingly, it is also the geographical center of Europe.  The capital, Vilnius, is only several kilometers away from Europe’s precise center. Alternating called “New Prague” and “Jerusalem of the North”, Vilnius boasts the largest Baroque town in Eastern Europe, considered by many to be an enchanting city worthy of storybook comparisons. Kernave, once a medieval capital and home to the Teutonic Knights, is called the “Baltic Troy” due to the fantastically preserved relics. On the coast, the Curonian Spit is a 98km narrow curved sand dune peninsula that forms the Curonian Lagoon. It features the highest shifting sand dunes in Europe with average heights of 35m that go as high as 60m. Trakai, the ancient capital of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, is noted for the picturesque red brick Gothic castle perched on an island in Lake Galvé while the Hill of Crosses is a vivid image of forested terrain contrasted by many thousands of crosses that dot the landscape.

Nice resort, many spas, nice architecture, good for a relaxing stay. The water park ROCKS! It is a huge indoor complex of 4 swimming pools with lots of activities, laser shows, and over 30 different sauna types.

When you're there, take a few hours trip to Grutas Parkas (approx 10-12 km from Druskinnikai) where all communist statues are placed, it's pretty educating!

Vilnius is amazing in spring or autumt, though you shouldn't be disappointed in summer or even in winter. Old town and Uzupis are best places for a walk, and don't forget to climb up the Gediminas castle hill for a spectacular view of the city panorama.

I recommend finding the old KGB Museum and visiting it, find out how much of the stuff you heard about the KGB that's actually true about how they treat .. enemies.

Dont forget to visit the old part of the city, it's lovely on a summer day.
