24971561I am travelling around the baltics for the next 10 days or so...
firstly, any advice on what's the best way to get around - rail travel is my preferred option by far, but I understand its difficult to move between countries here by train. Coaches seem the best bet till now...
Secondly, any recommendations for acco in Vilnius and Riga? Any willing couchsurfers on Geckogo?
Thirdly, friends and co-travellers in Lithuania and Latvia... do drop me a line if you want to meet up at all - will be lovely to do so indeed.

005Vilnius is amazing in spring or autumt, though you shouldn't be disappointed in summer or even in winter. Old town and Uzupis are best places for a walk, and don't forget to climb up the Gediminas castle hill for a spectacular view of the city panorama.

0122I recommend finding the old KGB Museum and visiting it, find out how much of the stuff you heard about the KGB that's actually true about how they treat .. enemies.

0266Is leuk bij mooi weer, een echte wandelstad. Kruising tussen Praag en Salzburg. Veel Barok. Leuke pleintjes, kerkjes, kunstwinkeltjes, ... Het museum over de geheime dienst, het communisme, ... is zeker een aanrader. Ook de studentenwijk moet je zeker bezoeken. Hard maar leerrijk. En de pintjes zijn groot in Litouwen. Op een 3 à 4-tal dagen heb je het wel gezien, maar dan kan je nog naar de kust rijden.
